SURFACE HARDENING BY CARBONITRATION

This process is the diffusioning nitrure compound onto steel surface with adding ammonia gas to present atmosphere during the carburizing the steel contains low carbon in 800–900 °C. In carbonitration, hardness depth is less but surface is much resistant to abbrasion. Because of process temperature is lower than carburizing, bending possibility is less and this process is applied for small parts have thin section.
